Affordable Hybrid SUV Options

When looking for new hybrid cars for sale, there are an increasing number of choices this year than ever before. It seems every manufacturer is coming out with their own twist in order to better milk more mileage with rising CAFE standards. But for all the extra models and makes offering a hybrid alternative, there is one class that car buyers can still struggle to find choices when searching car dealers in Atlanta, Georgia.

Those cars are hybrid SUVs for sale. Several companies offer one, most are expensive. Brands like Porche, Mercedes-Benz, and Cadillac all carry expensive hybrid SUV options for customers but none for less than $50,000. Not exactly the cheap cars many of the rest of us are looking for. Even worse, it's probably not the mileage you would be looking for either. The best of these three luxury SUVs only gets 25 mpg highway and cost $67,700. Not exactly economy.

So what other new hybrid cars for sale are there? For an affordable SUV you only really get three choices to even talk about. The most expensive of the three is the Toyota Highlander, offering 28 city and 28 highway mileage for a cost starting at $38,140. For anyone on a budget, this may break it. Thankfully the next two are a little closer if you are in the market for affordable cheap cars.

And while there maybe two choices, the Ford Escape and the Mercury Mariner, they may not be in local car dealers in Atlanta, Georgia for long. The last production year for the historic Mercury line will end the Mariners production. The Escape will still be offering SUVs for sale in 2012, but it to will phase out the hybrid series to make room for the new Ecoboost engine in 2013. That means you have a limited window of time to find either of these hybrid SUVs which start at around $30,000 and get over 34 MPG city and 31 MPG highway. Otherwise if you wait, getting a hybrid SUV might be a luxury that you simply cannot afford.
