Louis Chevrolet, the well-known racecar driver, created the company, with the help of William Durant, in 1911. In 1972 ten million Impalas were sold, making it the most popular full-size car in vehicle history. 1995 brought many awards including the Motor Trend "Truck of the Year" award devoted to the new Blazer and the Corvette officially served as the Official Indy 500 Pace Car of the year. In addition, the Tahoe was named Motor Trend "Tuck of the Year" award making them the first company to win that award in two consecutive years. The infamous bowtie shape symbol is a legend that maintains that it was inspired by a pattern of wallpaper in a Paris hotel room that a small piece was detached and kept by William Durant.
